Dr. J. Richard Pursley is currently a Professor of Animal Science at Michigan State University. His research efforts are focused on ovarian mechanisms that regulate fertility in cattle, particularly lactating dairy cows. Dr. Pursley is codeveloper of the Ovsynch-cattle synchronization technology that is utilized around the world to effectively control time to first and subsequent artificial inseminations. Dr. Pursley’s laboratory is currently investigating the impact of circulating concentrations of progesterone during the growth of the ovulatory follicle on fertility of dairy cows and heifers.
